DISTRICT HIGH
Transforming Tradition into Chic Modernity
District High presented an exciting opportunity to rebrand a long-standing property into something modern and relevant for a contemporary audience. The previous identity lacked vibrancy and distinctiveness, and there was a clear need to create something more aligned with current trends while maintaining cultural authenticity. By incorporating Japanese influences, we saw an opportunity to bring a fresh, thematic experience to Bhubaneswar’s pub and bar culture.

Overview
Reinvigorating an Old Property with a Fresh, Unique Identity
District High presented an exciting opportunity to rebrand a long-standing property into something modern and relevant for a contemporary audience. The previous identity lacked vibrancy and distinctiveness, and there was a clear need to create something more aligned with current trends while maintaining cultural authenticity. By incorporating Japanese influences, we saw an opportunity to bring a fresh, thematic experience to Bhubaneswar’s pub and bar culture.
WHAT WAS IMPORTANT?
The old property had potential but needed a modern, thematic rebrand to attract a younger, more discerning audience.
Japanese culture and teppanyaki-style dining presented a unique, unexplored angle in Bhubaneswar’s bar scene.
The brand needed a cohesive identity from the interiors to the logo, reflecting its new direction.

The Opportunity
A Fusion of Garden Tranquility and Japanese Culture
Our strategy was centered around creating a space that felt both chic and culturally inspired. We reimagined the pub’s interiors and exteriors with a garden theme, using lush, green elements to evoke a sense of tranquility and sophistication. Alongside this, we introduced teppanyaki-style cultural references to immerse guests in a unique dining and drinking experience. The menu was refreshed to include a blend of Japanese cuisine and fusion dishes, ensuring District High would be known for both its drinks and its food.
WHAT WE DID?
Rebranding the interiors and exteriors with a fresh, garden-themed design.
Incorporating teppanyaki and Japanese cultural elements to differentiate the pub from others in the city.
Introducing a new menu featuring Japanese cuisine and fusion options.

The Strategy
A Logo that Maps Out Authenticity
The logo design for District High was a unique fusion of cultural symbolism and geographic precision. Inspired by Japanese symbols, we created a custom logo using the exact geographic location of the property as its foundation. By mapping out the intersection of highways near the property, we designed a graphic that incorporated these lines into a symbolic, minimalist design. A bold, bright red dot marked the precise location of the venue, giving the logo an authentic yet modern Japanese aesthetic that represented both place and culture.
In addition to the logo, the overall design language of District High was carefully curated to reflect the fusion of Japanese culture and modern chic. The garden-themed interiors used greenery and natural materials to create a calming yet stylish environment, while the exterior incorporated clean, modern lines. Cultural references to Japanese dining, such as teppanyaki stations, added depth to the experience, ensuring that the design, food, and ambiance worked in harmony.
